Lhasa
Lhasa needs slower, high-altitude planning: palace and monastery days work best when arrival recovery, permits, guide timing, and weather are built into the route.

City introduction
How to understand Lhasa
Lhasa should be paced around altitude first. Arrival recovery, light walking, oxygen-aware hotels, and permit timing are part of the route design, not afterthoughts.
The Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, Barkhor circuit, and major monasteries make the city a concentrated introduction to Tibetan Buddhist architecture and pilgrimage life.
Because access rules, guide requirements, and ticket windows can be strict, Lhasa itineraries need earlier coordination than standard city breaks.
Planning note
Plan permits, altitude acclimatization, and hotel oxygen support early; do not schedule a heavy sightseeing day immediately after arrival.
